I am posting today to tell you about a concerned group of Connecticut residents who have come together to launch a never before seen not-for-profit donation model concerning the oil spill crisis in the Gulf of Mexico. The premise is pretty simple…. Download a song from a compilation of original music from I-tunes. 100-percent of the profit goes to the United Way overseeing the social service agencies of 4 gulf states. The press conference is at 3 pm today in East Hartford at L&R Records.
And of course... I BAKED A CAKE FOR THE EFFORT!
What has been accomplished in just 3 short weeks is nothing short of AMAZING.
The website associated with this effort is http://www.givetothegulf.org/
Please check out the site! The "all original" music is incredible!
Take a listen to the ANTHEM-Title track” Give to the Gulf. There is a music video about it on the web site and posted on You Tube. All we have to do is ask ourselves, what would we want others to do if it was long Island Sound that was in trouble? The “relevance” of the effort is that it affects everyone that consumes energy or appreciates our own waterways and maritime heritage.
It is also important to look at how a small group of concerned individuals with a vision are going to
make a nationwide impact on philanthropy in the gulf through music.
BTW-The cake is chocolate fudge.
