FOR THE LOVE OF HOME-MADE CAKES

I love baking and decorating cakes. Each one of my creations is homemade with love! I can't bring you the taste here or the smell, but I can share with you the visual beauty of a cake and the story behind its creation. I invite you to comment and to possibly contribute some of your own pictures. Enjoy!

A Visit With Buddy Valastro - The Cake Boss!

I had a GREAT afternoon! I attended the Connecticut Cake Competition and Cake Challenge in downtown Hartford and came face to face with none other than TLC's NUMBER ONE cake decorator, BUDDY VALASTRO.  Look for more postings in the days ahead.  In a word: AMAZING!

Meet the Cake Decorator!

This was the cake I made for Maggie's Baptisim.
She was our star!

Another Delicious Doll

When Rachel turned 3, I attempted the doll cake you see here with dark peach colored frosting. You can see the cake is chocolate - at 3 years old... I figured she was not going to mind if I made my favorite!

6 and 8 -The cake looks GREAT!

With birthday's just 3 weeks apart, I hosted a joint birthday party for the family the year the girls turned 6 and 8.  This was a double decker sheet cake - double delicious!

Rachel Turns 4 Barbie Style!

When Rachel turned 4, I made the Barbie Cake you see posted above. The cake mold was a a pan purchased at Cakeworks in Hamden.  The "Barbie" head piece was a molded, nearly flat piece of plastic laid on top of the cake and I frosted around it.  The cake was strawberry pink!

She's Such a Doll!

When Becky Beth turned 30 we threw her a great party! She was glowing that evening and so was her cake! A tripple tiered masterpiece complete with a doll on top - chocolate fudge cake... is there anything else?

Number 52

For my ultimate Patriot's Fan I decorated this cake with a circle cut
out from a Patriot's gift bag and nerf football from I-Party. #52 in years,
#1 in my heart.  Cake Flavor: Red Velvet

Batman Tops the Cake!

I took one look at this Batman mask and knew it was the perfect
cake topper for my step-son's birthday cake. When the lights were
turned down low for the ceremonial blowing out of the candles,
the cake and the mask effect were just perfect!
Cake Flavor: Chocolate Fudge
